In 2012, EverStream Capital Management created a new affiliate entity called “EverStream Yield” and created one of the first renewable energy YieldCo’s, which are companies similar to Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) that acquire solar and wind assets and provide dividends to shareholders. After building the team and initial pipeline, EverStream sold the business to SunEdison in 2013 and under the leadership of EverStream’s co-founder, the company went public in 2014 under the name TerraForm Power (NASDAQ: TERP). Brookfield Asset Management acquired the company in 2017 and merged into Brookfield Renewable Corporation (NYSE: BEPC).
